Places to visit in Málaga

El Caminito del Rey

With the Gaitanes gorge at your feet, you will travel the vertiginous walkway that hangs from the mountains at just over 100 meters high. The opening of this beautiful road was carried out by King Alfonso XIII in 1921. It was closed to the public for a long time. But, after its rehabilitation and reopening, today allows everyone to enjoy unique views of the Sierra de Málaga and its surroundings.

La Catedral de Málaga

It was built in the place occupied by the Mosque-Aljama of Arab times, which was consecrated under the Catholic religion after the reconquest of Malaga by the Catholic Monarchs, building in its place a Christian church, between 1528 and 1782 with many interruptions.

Estadio la Rosaleda

If you travel in winter and it’s league season in Spain. I recommend you go to La Rosaleda stadium to enjoy the most popular sport with one of the best crowds in Spain. Currently, the team is in the second division. But it is a team that is usually in the first division.

El Río Chíllar

One of the most charming and refreshing excursions to do, especially in summer with children, is a tour of the Chillar river, as it combines hiking and swimming. The Chillar River is located in the eastern part of the province of Malaga between the vicinities of Competa and Nerja, in the Natural Park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. The Chillar River is one of the most beautiful rivers in the province of Malaga for its canyons and landscapes excavated by the erosion of water on limestone.
The good thing about the Chillar river route or Los Cahorros route, although the total journey to the top is about 8 kilometers, we can do part of it and return whenever we want, if we are tired. It’s okay for children to go there as long as they can walk and hike.

I highly recommend you to wear trainers. Otherwise, you will hurt your feet because of all the little stones you will find on the river.
